Learn how Standby teamed up with ASI to help them address staffing challenges and more!

Who is ASI?

American Servco Inc. (ASI) is a large-scale commercial cleaning and labor service provider, specializing in maintaining high-traffic venues such as stadiums and event spaces. With a focus on operational efficiency, ASI consistently delivers top-tier results while managing large-scale cleaning and facility maintenance needs. Labor demands in the event industry are constantly fluctuating for vendors, and ASI was in need of additional labor to call on when the need arose. Knowing that our team would be with them every step of the way, they turned to our platform.

Why they partnered with Standby

In September 2022, American Servco Inc. (ASI) began utilizing the Standby platform (previously Posted) to address critical staffing needs. ASI manages the cleaning and maintenance of stadiums and facilities for University of Georgia athletics, as well as overseeing parking services during events. Due to the unpredictable nature of event-based labor demands, ASI frequently faced last-minute staffing shortages.

By leveraging the Standby platform (previously Posted), ASI was able to quickly post available shifts, notify our worker base in Athens, and fill positions within minutes, ensuring seamless operations.

To evaluate the success ASI found with our platform, we looked at the following metrics:

Number of Shifts Filled

Worker Reviews & Ratings

Hours of Labor Sourced from Standby

Job Fill Rates

Last-Minute Shifts Filled with Quality Workers

Standby (previously Posted) connected ASI with our qualified worker base in their area. Our platform immediately notified workers in the area, communicated all relevant job info, and took care of all payment processing and paperwork. This enabled ASI to spend less time finding workers and running payroll, and more time focusing on operations.

You've got questions. We've got answers!

How is Standby different from a temp staffing agency?

Standby was created because we were tired of low quality and high costs associated with temp staffing companies. Unlike working with a temp staffing agency, with Standby:

  • You set the hourly rate.
  • Aside from your state’s required minimum wage, there is no minimum hourly rate. You do what fits your budget.
  • On Standby, you get peer-reviewed workers with a proven track record. With many staffing agencies, you simply get whoever they can find to work.
Are the workers 1099 Independent Contractors?

Nope! All workers on Standby are W2 employees of our company. By ensuring all workers are W2 compliant, your organization avoids any risk of worker misclassification.

Are the workers on Standby W2 employees?

Exactly! All workers on Standby are W2 employees of our company. This ensures you get the compliance, quality, and liability coverage of a W2 employee without having to run payroll, offer benefits, and pay work employee insurance. We take care of all that for you!

Are workers on Standby covered by insurance?

Sure are! All workers on Standby are covered by Workers’ Comp insurance. Not only does this ensure all workers are compliant with laws and regulations, but it can provide you with peace of mind when it comes to liability during your events.

Is there a minimum number of hours a shift needs to be?

Nope! Unlike other platforms or staffing agencies, there is no minimum shift duration when posting on Standby.

Is there a minimum hourly rate?

All jobs posted on Standby must be at least equal to your state’s minimum hourly rate. Aside from that, Standby does not require a minimum hourly rate.

How do workers get paid?

Standby takes care of all payments to workers so that you don’t have to. As the Employer of Record, Standby runs payroll and deals with all taxes. Our platform automatically debits your organization’s bank account on record for the amount due for a shift and provides you with a receipt.

What is the pricing structure for Standby?

Standby offers a completely pay-as-you-go service where you only pay once a job has been completed and checked off my a member of your team.

Your payment to Standby for a shift is composed of 3 parts:

  1. Worker wages based on the hourly rate you set and time spent on the job
  2. Standby’s 27% premium for access to the platform
  3. Employer Contributions (which depend on your state, typically around 11%)
What if a worker doesn’t show up?

If a worker doesn’t show up, they receive a ‘No Show’. Two ‘No Shows’ results in a 30 day hold on the worker’s account. As a result, Standby naturally filters out workers who have not shown up for shifts, increasing your confidence in the workers you source from our platform.

What are your fill rates for shifts?

For our largest vendor partner, the average fill rate in 2024 is 95%. In new markets, fill rates may be slightly lower for the first month as we ramp up and build our worker base in that region.

What about training? Some of our shifts require the worker to have a knowledge of our process before hand. How does Standby address that?

Standby offers the ability to host a training session and require workers to attend that training session before signing up for future shifts.

For example, if you want workers to understand your organization’s catering practices before working a shift, you can post a “Catering Training Session”. Everyone who attends this session will earn a Catering Badge. You can then require the Catering Badge to sign up for future catering jobs with your organization.

How do I ensure a worker completed the job before paying them?

A worker is only paid once a member of your staff has checked that worker in and out of the job. This ensures that you only pay Standby for jobs that have been completed and checked by your team.

How does the vetting process work?

Standby workers are peer-reviewed. After every shift, job posters have the ability to review the worker. You can see the worker’s average rating as a result of reviews submitted by other businesses in your area. If you wish, you can require a 4+ star rating to sign up for your jobs.

Have workers on Standby completed a background check?

It's up to you! You can require that a worker complete a background check before signing up for your shifts.

If you require a background check for a job, then only workers who have passed a background check may sign up for your jobs. Not all workers complete background checks, as many jobs on the platform do not require one. However, we do offer that feature if you wish to add checks as a requirement.

Can I request workers on short notice?

You bet! Standby immediately connects you to a pool of workers who are ready to work on a moment’s notice. Need help within hours of a shift? We’ve got you covered.

Can I re-hire workers that I’ve liked in the past?

Absolutely! The best way to do this would be to utilize Standby’s Badge System. Our Badge System enables you to create a badge and assign it to workers who you’ve enjoyed working with in the past. You can then require this badge to sign up for a job. As a result, only workers you’ve granted this badge to may sign up for the shift.
